Interior Design and Identity for Hospitality

Spaces with character.
And that one moment that stays.

For individual hotels and distinctive hospitality destinations whose hosts want to offer their guests more than beautiful interiors.

What lasts

A well-designed interior is not the same as a coherent one.

A place can be beautiful and still feel generic. Character does not emerge from individual pieces of furniture, colours or trends. It emerges when place, hosts, guests and design relate to one another.

Sometimes this core is already there. Sometimes it has become blurred over the years. Sometimes it begins as a strong vision. And sometimes it first needs to be developed together.

The corner of an old oak bench on a plank floor. Sunlight filtered through foliage lays a pattern of soft, bright patches across wood and floorboards.
A close view of three materials side by side: a slab of pale, porous limestone, a surface of oak with visible grain, and the rim of a softly gleaming metal bowl. A diagonal band of light crosses the wood.

Every design begins with understanding.

Before material, colour or form are decided, three things come first.

01

The place

What is already there? What has grown over the years? What should remain - and what needs renewed clarity?

A view through a pane of glass into a room with herringbone parquet and an oak cabinet. The glass reflects furniture and plants from the space in front, so that two layers overlap.

A woman in a dark linen shirt stands laughing at a solid wooden table, one hand resting on it, in conversation with someone in the foreground. Behind her a floor-to-ceiling glass front opens onto greenery.

02

The hosts

What do the hosts stand for? What genuinely matters to them? Which attitude should be felt in every decision?

03

The guests

Who is this place being created for? How should people arrive, meet, linger and remember it later?

Four people stand talking with wine glasses on a wooden deck by a lake. Behind them the sun sits low over the water and the wooded shoreline.

These answers do not lead to a predefined style. They lead to a character that belongs to this place.

From first intuition to spatial clarity.

Every project begins at a different point. The shared path still follows a clear movement.

Understand

What makes this place distinctive? Its history, hosts, guests, existing fabric and future vision are understood with care and distilled into a clear spatial direction.

Design

The findings become a distinctive spatial identity - translated into space, material, colour, light, furniture and atmosphere.

Bring to life

The developed idea is tested, refined and safeguarded through prototypes, material reviews and design guidance on its way into reality.

Directly with Marion

Experience shaped a point of view.

For around 20 years, I have worked in hospitality interiors and contributed to more than 100 hotel projects. I know the tension between atmosphere and everyday operations, vision and budget, design ambition and real-world implementation.

Today, I deliberately work with individual hosts and distinctive hospitality projects. Directly, personally, and with the aim of bringing feeling and hotel reality together.

How collaboration can take shape.

Every project begins at a different point. Through shared exchange, it becomes clear which step will genuinely move the place and the project forward.

Not every project needs every step.

Starting point

Clarifying the property, its guests and its spatial direction.

Before design begins, attention turns to the history of the property, the people behind it, its guests and the framework in which meaningful change can take place.

This results in an initial spatial guiding idea, a visual direction and clear priorities for the next steps.

Character

Turning identity into space.

From what makes a place distinctive, an individual interior concept emerges.

Space, material, colour, light, furniture and atmosphere come together as a spatial identity that cannot simply be transferred to another place.

Side by side

Keeping the idea intact in reality.

Where required, WONNE can continue to guide the design through planning and implementation - from material reviews and design reviews to the final coordination of light, colour and atmosphere.

Explore working together

A new practice, shaped by experience.

WONNE is new. The experience behind it has grown over around 20 years and more than 100 hotel projects - from first concept to real-world implementation.

Selected project stories will be added once roles, context and image rights have been fully clarified.

More about Marion

Hospitality begins with conviction.

WONNE is particularly well suited to hosts who speak about people and rituals before features and square metres.

To properties where community is not treated as a trend, but grows from conviction. To places where a connection to nature, substance, reliability and a sense of joy are not merely claimed, but lived every day.

Where does the project stand - and what is the right next step?

The first conversation is not about a finished proposal. It is about understanding the place, the idea and the next meaningful steps.

The same wall as at the beginning, now in a warm evening tone. Only a few patches of light remain — more afterglow than event.
